Many Christians believe the Earth was created in 6 literal days, while others interpret this to be 6000 years. Some Bible Researchers even claim the Earth is just 49,000 years old, based on 7 prophetic days of 7,000 years each. However, science provides strong evidence that the Earth is about 4.54 billion years old. Can both views find harmony? Let’s explore.
2. WHAT IS RADIO ACTIVITY?
Radioactivity is the process by which unstable atomic nuclei lose energy by emitting radiation. This occurs in elements like Uranium, Thorium, and Radium.
- Alpha decay — emits 2 protons and 2 neutrons.
- Beta decay — a neutron becomes a proton, emitting an electron.
- Gamma decay — high-energy radiation is emitted without changing the nucleus.
These changes transform an atom into a different element or isotope.
3. WHAT IS HALF-LIFE?
The half-life of a radioactive element is the time it takes for half of a sample to decay. It is constant and measurable.
For Uranium-238, the half-life is exactly:
